Summer's here?

Summer's here?
Whilst the rest of Britain is under water, Blackpool enjoys the sun!

School's Out!

Haven't done much with the blog recently. Needless to say that I have no excuse now that I am off for a while. If it doesn't like there is nothing new here.. then look again. It's worthwhile checking regularly on my photo links, You Tube page and also my last.fm page. All of these are linked from within my blog page. See if you can find them.

So what's new? Well I have uploaded some recent photos to my Picasa album and there are some America videos on my You Tube site. Send me a post if you can't find them; oh, and feel free to write comments.

Weird is wonderful!

A selection of my edited and touched up photos. (I hope to add to this at a later date).

Video from the Cabot Tower, Bristol

This video was shot on my Sony Ericsson K800i on 11th April 2007. It's a 260 foot tower, built in 1897 to commemorate John Cabot's voyage from Bristol and the sighting of North America four hundred years earlier. The views of Bristol and the surrounding countryside are spectacular from the top! Have a look for yourself..

Children to be given more powers in the classroom

Kurt saw this story on the BBC News website and thought you
should see it.

**Government plans tough new measures to deal with unruly classroom behaviour**

In a shock U-turn decision aimed at combating growing poor and unruly classroom behaviour, Government Ministers announced today that they will be piloting a new scheme aimed at relieving the burden on teachers. Pupils will be given the power to take over the running of lessons if they feel that the teacher is not coping. The class teacher will effectively "swap places" with the child and then be allowed to throw insults at the child as they attempt to teach the lesson. Ministers hope that by putting the child in charge, they will see the error of their ways and come to realise how their bad behaviour is preventing the teacher from doing their job. Children will also be allowed to confiscate phones from teachers to ring parents for extra support in lessons.

Magnum hit UK charts at number 29

Magnum (one of my all time favourite bands) have a new album out this week. Released 26th March, it's already at number 29 in the UK charts. The band have been around since the mid seventies, having a few successful chart hits from the album "Wings of Heaven" in the mid eighties. Well they are still going strong today! To have a listen to the new album, PRINCESS ALICE & THE BROKEN ARROW, visit the official website: http://www.magnumonline.co.uk/

STOP PRESS! It's currently number 25 on Amazon.co.uk's best seller list!

Sproggle your iPod!

If you are a regular iPod user, you might be interested in this software, which allows you (and your friends) to view your listening habits on line. When you syncronise your iPod, the tunes that you have recently listened to simply get uploaded onto a personalised web site. From there, you can view your most listened to tunes and even create your own charts! I am totally hooked. The great thing is that it will either work if you listen in iTunes or if you listen "on the go" - on your iPod away from your computer.

There are PC and Mac versions available and it will also work with the Shuffle, Motorola iTunes phone and presumably the iPod Nano.

Take a minute to visit the Last.Fm home page for more information.

You will notice that my recently listened to songs are in a panel on the right of this blog -->

Have fun!

Going for Goth!

Well, I got the new Within Temptation album "The Heart of Everything" and it's awesome. I know some people will compare them to Nightwish or Evanescence, but they're heavier - more metal but with some great symphonic riffs! So far my favourite tracks are: "What have you done", "The Howling" (the theme for a video game!) and "The Cross".

You can pre-listen by clicking here.

BETTER STILL - BUY THE ALBUM NOW for under £10

Planet Rock

How cool is this? I had a dedication read out on Planet Rock on Saturday! Big problem, it was on at 9AM and I was still in bed asleep.. doh. Anyway, the song played was "Vigilante" by Magnum who are one of my all time favourite bands. They also have a new album out next month entitled "PRINCESS ALICE AND THE BROKEN ARROW"

Saturday Afternoon

Well, it's the first day of the half term holiday and I am supposed to be writing Year 9 Reports. How boring is this? Let me give you an idea: imagine I had just asked you to paint St. Paul's Cathedral with a toothbrush using one hand, well that would be more interesting!

Plans for half term hol - eat, sleep, drink, watch vids, p*ss around on my computer.. you get the idea. Anyway, thought I would just have a play around with Google's new Blogger facility and here I am. I will be updating my Red Rose Podacast series again soon on Myspace so keep an eye on that.

Better get back to the marking....
