The Sistine Chapel 360 degree view

This is an /AMAZING/ 3D view of the entire Sistine Chapel.

You can drag your mouse around and zoom in on any part of it.

You can almosty hear Pope Julius ask, "How Long?" and Michaelangelo

reply, "When it's done!"

The day I Jailbroke my iPhone

I took the plunge and I am now the proud owner of a Jailbroken iPhone 3G! This effectively makes it a 3GS. To be honest, it's like having a new phone. You can read many
reasons to go for it here:
http://www.hackthatphone.com/3x/read_me_first.html

For example, I now have video recording - technically only available
on the 3GS! Wasn't about to upgrade just for that. I am chuffed to
bits with the quality. Little bit jerky but comparable to my Panasonic
digital camera. Here's a little sample:

If you (or anyone you know) are wondering whether or not to take the
plunge, just do it! It's so easy and - touch wood- nearly two days on,
I haven't encountered any problems. However, if you have upgraded to
the latest firmware which I think is 3.1.2, you WON'T be able to
jailbreak yet.

Full, simple instructions are here:
http://www.hackthatphone.com/3x/p_3_1_3g.html

If there's anything you aren't sure about. please ask. Feel free to
forward this message on to mates who have iPhones etc. (I should be on commission for the Dev team!)

My idiots guide to "virtual GPS"

I've been playing around with geo-location and auto-location from a pc or mobile. It's been dubbed "virutal GPS" because it can find you within a few metres, but it's not quite as accurate as GPS.

There are currently several different system.

If you have a new mobile or a smart phone, chances are you will be able to install Google Latitude. Head to www.google.com/latitude for more info. You can also add it to iGoogle and update it right from there. I'm not keen on it cause it doesn't talk to Facebook, so it's only useful to other Latitude users. Still not bad!

The best option I've found requires several steps so I'll write these here for you to try:

Step 1:

Get Yahoo FireEagle at: fireeagle.yahoo.net You can sign up with a Yahoo account if you already have one. You will need to add two applications from the gallery. "Friends on Fire" and "Loki". (You'll have to visit these sites later as described below). Friends on Fire talks to Facebook.

Step 2:

Visit loki.com and create an account. Set Sharing to allow FireEagle. (You don't have to worry about Friends on Fire, since this only talks to FireEagle). Test your location in loki (loki.com/my) It's amazingly accurate as it works from mobile phone masts and wi-fi. You will need a wireless router or laptop to make it work more efficiently. Here's where I am right now:

Step 3:

Go to facebook and search for the application called Friends on Fire:
apps.facebook.com/on-fire/?ref=ts This gets Facebook talking to FireEagle. You can put it on your wall so that when you update my Loki, your friends can see where you are on Facebook. Note: Some of you are probably wondering why the "middleman" FireEagle is necessary. Well there is a Facebook Application for Loki but currently it doesn't work and you can't add it to your Facebook wall. Anyway, that's it. Don't forget to check that you have authorised both Loki and Friends on Fire in your FireEagle settings:
fireeagle.yahoo.net/my/apps. Finally, if you are interested in Geo-locating from your mobile, head to www.navizon.com/. Again, it's free and your location is detected from the mobile phone masts. Your location can be sent automatically to FireEagle and so this will forward on to Facebook. Happy locating :-)

I look forward to seeing where you are soon!
